Welcoming Ryan Miyahara

Today we're welcoming Ryan Miyahara to Adapt as a Product Engineer on our engineering team.

Ryan joins us from Postman, where he worked on the API client used by millions of developers every day. He's a UCLA computer science grad who got his start as a software engineering intern at Workday, and he has a soft spot for side projects, everything from a Secret Santa email bot to Arduino macros for GameCube controllers. He reunites here with Dustin Schau, who also came to Adapt by way of Postman.

In his first week he's going deep on Adapt's knowledge system, the layer that lets the integrated coworker remember what your company knows. He's paired with Patrick Burris as his onboarding buddy, met the whole team, and shipped and merged his first PR on day one.

About Ryan, in his words

How did you get into engineering?

I'm a software developer from San Jose, California, who loves coding and finding useful, or just humorous, places to build code-based solutions.

Why Adapt, why now?

I think Adapt is a great, multipurpose tool that can solve many, many problems in an easy-to-approach and easy-to-use package. The team itself has great energy, and I'm super excited to work with everyone.

What's one part of your job you'd be relieved to never do again?

Morning swimming in the ocean. Never again.

A piece of software, tool, or workflow you think is criminally underrated, and what does loving it say about you?

Slippi.gg. Someone wrote and added state-of-the-art online functionality to a party game released in 2001, an era before online games were really a thing, so nerds like me could play it competitively during COVID. It was a crazy time.

Welcome, Ryan. We're glad you're here!
